Does Satan remember sins we confessed?

Hi,
I remember hearing about this a couple of years ago, that via an exorcism the devil is not permitted to remember any sins that someone has committed that has been confessed. I was wondering if this was true or not.

It seems to be true. I read it in one of either Father Gabriele Amorth’s (an exorcist) books or Matt Baglio’s. “The Rite” . I don’t remember exactly which one mentions it but, this seems to be the case. It makes sense, since we would have been forgiven of our sins, basically erased from our soul.
 
So is this saying that the devil’s alleged inability to remember is due to confession, or only to an actual exorcism?
 
If you write or speak of sins you have confessed, than Satan will know about them. That much I know for sure (unless perhaps you’re at chuch at the time.) If you confess them and don’t write about them or speak about them, than I don’t think Satan remembers the sins, as I also read about this being revealed by a demon during an exorcisim. The demon brought up a venial sin the priest preforming the exorcisim had committed a long time ago. I forget how the priest responded, but the demon explained that demons don’t remember sins that have been confessed.
 
Satan cannot read minds, so how could he “remember” something that he may not even be aware of in the first place?

Satan is not omnipotent, therefore he cannot know all of our specific sins anyhow.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding the question.
 
Thanks for the reply, my question has been answered. I always thought he could read our minds and that’s why he tempts us. Thanks for clarifying things up.

Satan can see the sins on our souls. Also, he can read minds (though I can’t prove this, I know from experiance.)
 
Makes me wonder though, something I was thinking the other day after my confession. (maybe I should start another thread, but…)

Could Satan or a demon be present IN the confessional during our confession, hear our confession, and then knowing our sins then use that against us??

I do not believe this is true. He cannot “see the sins on our souls”, and while Satan is extremely perceptive and knows humans and human nature very very well, he cannot read our minds.
Extremely perceptive, yes. Mind-reader, no.

For this past answer, I heard it from Betty Brennan, a Catholic speaker and former Satanist. If he cannot read minds (let’s just say, because I believe that he can) than how could he know the sins of those preforming and assissting with exorcisms?

I was walking down the street one day and had a strange thought that two (normal-looking) women walking in front of me, were Satanists. I told myself they probably were not, but the thought was very persistant. One of them then turned completely around very fast to look at me and then turned back around just as fast. The other woman asked “What is it?” The first woman responded in a whisper “That girl just had a thought that we’re Satanists,” to which the second woman replied “Well, nothing will come of it.”

I can’t prove that this happened, but that’s how I know.

Satan can not read minds, but sometimes it seems like he can, since he has a super human intelligience.

Satan doesn’t need to read minds.

If we, as human beings with our frail intellect, can read body language and overhear things, how much more can a a being with superior intelligence know exactly what our weaknesses are from watching our language, listening to our words and reading our body language.

The St Michael prayer says he goes about prowling seeking the ruin of souls.

There was a Saint who said we shouldn’t even answer Satan when he tries to tempt us. Forgot who that was.

Thats why we rely on God, our guardian angels and the Saints. We can never go up against Satan on our own.

It can be embarassing to those preforming or assisiting with exorcisms, which is why their supposed to go to Confession before doing so. Other than that, I don’t know if it matters much.

Yes, but we should still be very careful with this. We should never base a fact on the words of a demon. If a saint says it, that’s one thing. As right as something may be, it seems to be risky giving any stock into what a demon says.
 
satan is not responsible for our sins and only we remember our sins hence we keep committing the same sin even though we are truelly sorry. Do we remember our sins that we have said sorry for? If so then why do we keep repeating them? If we could remember we are sorry for them then we wouldn’t repeat them and wouldn’t need to go to confession and repeat the same sin. We might have new ones but at least we are new to them.🙂

No one is saying that Satan is responsible for our sins.

We may or may not be sorry for sins we are committing at a given time. Regardless, we could always be sorry *after *committing a certain sin.
