Well I am not talking about exorcism per se. I am talking about people who turn and face spirits and speak to them or tell them to “go-away” or “leave me alone in the name of Jesus.” When I tell such people not to say anything to these spirits or to seek a Priest I almost always get the reaction that they have nothing to fear and so they cast them out in the name of Jesus…
My fear is not of the demon itself as much as it is for these poor souls who have never really faced them in this manner. It is one thing to be spiritually attacked through dreams, imagination, and (more of the common attacks.) It is an entirely different story when they become physical attacks. At this point they are playing with fire and instead of seeking help which they need, they become arrogant. (When I was facing such things the minute I would become even slightly arrogant thinking that because I was Christian the evil ones had no power…that very arrogance made their attacks much worse. I had to admit humility and fall to my knees. With that humility comes fear, unfortunately, because you realize with such blinding honesty within your own heart that you in and of yourself are nothing without God. It is at this point that you fear offending him, fear that he is testing you, fear what is next…)
My point is that I think people need to be really careful about what they “don’t fear.” I suppose though it is just like trying to teach a child something…they have to learn it on their own.
