Does Scripture limit Holy Communion to once a week?

I just found this website and I love it. I live in Alabama and catholics are not a common site here. I have so many people ask me questions about my faith and I sometimes find it hard to explain my answers in terms they can understand. This is why I am so thankful for this website. Today a protestant friend of mine asked why we can receive Holy Communion everyday when scriptures tell them to receive it once a week. I do not know how to answer this question.

Dear Kristy,

The burdon of proof lies with her. Ask her to show you where Scripture states that we may only receive Holy Communion once a week and not oftener.

While the practice in the early Church may have been that they celebrated the Eucharist pretty much only on Sundays, this is not to say that Scripture prohibited them from celebrating it oftener.
