Does she need an annulment?

My sister in-law and her husband got married when neither of them were Christians, then later divorced. She now becomes Catholic. Is she permitted to remarry now, or does she need to seek annulment for her previous marriage first?

Two unbaptized persons can enter into a valid marriage.

She most likely could apply for a Pauline Privilege.

The Pauline Privilege applies under the following conditions:

1. someone desires to be baptized and become a Catholic or did so after marriage
2. the former spouse has not been baptized.
3. the former spouse has no desire to reunite the marriage.
