Does sin lead to physcial death?

I believe in Evolution, but someone told me how can I believe in it if death is needed for Evolution, but that sin caused death. I just said that when the Bible talks about dying from your sins it means spiritual death, but then the person said if that were true Jesus’s death would mean nothing because his death was physical and his death paid for our sins. Alittle help here?

It’s an interesting line of thought. But I’m not sure that immortality ever applied to the animals. As for humans, the only ones who ever had immortality to begin with were Adam and Eve- and they lost it very quickly apparently. As for Adam and Eve- they could have gotten their bodies through the evolutionary process, but their God-given souls, which were given at once, would have been what separated them from the other animals.
