I think in this case the Magisterium is at odds with traditional orthodox practice (including the practice of the first 1,000 years or more of the Catholic Church) and is at odds with the instructions of Christ, and with the practice of the very earliest Church that we read about scripture (e.g. 1 Cor. 28). Trent, in my opinion, put the magisterium above both scripture and tradition. Personally, I feel Vatican-II brought the Church back into orthodox practice.
But I’ve had more than fair fair share of a say on this, I look forward to reading other views on it.
