Logic and the Heart

I can’t give you a definitive statement at this late hour and because I haven’t sorted it all out myself. Maybe others could give me a hand.
I mentioned logic because in my very limited experience with Muslims they seem to place an inordinate amount of weight to (human) logic. Christians do it too, not just as much. This is my own personal impression; I could be wrong.
God is love. There’s no logic in love. It just…is. It’s a emotion; a feeling. Faith isn’t logical, in my opinion. It’s not a science or math, where 2+2=4. It just is something that one senses in their deepest consciousness. It’s spiritual. Prove spirits to me.

Human logic is faulty. Benjamen posted on whyislam some typical mistakes in logic. A crude example would be: emad is a male. emad is a muslim. Therefore, all muslims are male.
The biggest flaw with logic is our own ego… mine’s better than yours. Therefore, your’s is wrong. I am unaware of the Bible addressing logic.

We also can’t confine God’s plan to what is “logical” in human terms. We cannot confine God in any way, shape or form. I mean, I used to ask, “where’s the “logic” in all the different religions?” As I’ve grown spiritually, I see a possible logic in it, but it’s God’s logic and I leave it to Him.

Sheesh. Here I am arguing how illogical logic is. I’m going to bed.

Please tell me an example in the history of the world of an ideal government. Had that ever happened? In Judaism, Christianity or in Islam?

The Prophet peace be upon him established an ideal government, so did the 4 successors after him. So did the Khalifa Umar ibn abdul Aziz.
I have to disagree with you here. The government you’re talking about is ideal to whom? If it’s to the Muslims, I would understand. But you have to qualify your statement.

Definitely it was not ideal to the Christians and the Jews. They just didn’t have any choice but to live under these Islamic governments.

My question – is Islamic government meant for Muslims only or for ALL mankind? If it is not for all mankind, then that system falls short of universal ideal to be accepted by all. It’s just enforcing the Islamic theology to those who didn’t subscribe to it by default. Forcing is contradicting God’s way.

An ideal government is a government that is accepted by all of its citizens. Jesus saw this difficulty and rightly didn’t attempt to introduce any worldly government.

God is infinitely just. How can this ‘justness’ be guaranteed if men enforce His law? Sure you can say it needs four witnesses to stone an adulteress or chopping off a thief’s hands. But humans are just humans. Four witnesses means nothing if they intend to lie or cheat as witnesses. Does it justify the stoning or the chopping with lying witnesses who have agenda of their own? Suppose if mistakes are made, where is the justice?

With mankind no government system is foolproof. There is always element of abuse. Talking about ideal utopia government is simple but it is not attainable. It could be implemented in a family with certainty but surely not for a country with 250 millions.

The fact that you say its ideal indicates that the system doesn’t work. Because, you see, it’s just a matter of your opinion as Muslim. You haven’t asked the others.

Peace,

Reuben.
