Does the body have to be present at the funeral?

Is it required that the bodily remains or cremains be present at the vigil and funeral Mass?
 
No, but it is good for the remains to be at the funeral if possible because they can then be blessed. If the remains are not present, then a representation of the person (such as a photograph) may be used.
