I am recently engaged and my fiancee and I are trying to set a wedding date. Since we have a lot of guests traveling from out of town, we are hoping to hold the wedding on a long weekend (hopefully Labor Day). We would really like to have the wedding on a Sunday, but my parish said that they do not perform Sunday ceremonies. I did not press the issue, but I was wondering if there was a blanket prohibition on Sunday weddings in all Catholic churches or if it is a parish-by-parish rule. We would be bringing in an outside priest (from our college) to peform the ceremony and we would of course avoid interfering with any regularly scheduled Sunday masses, etc. I was just wondering if it will be worth it to try and persuade my church to allow us to have a Sunday wedding. Thank you!
