Does the Catholic Church recognize the marriage of a non-Catholic Christian and a non-Christian?

Greetings. I searched through the forums and could not find an answer seemed to answer my question. Suppose a non-Catholic Christian married a non-Christian, and they later divorced civilly. Would this marriage be considered valid in the eyes of the Church? Would the Christian require an annulment from the Church if s/he wished to then marry a Catholic?

Hi,

The Catholic Church recognizes all marriages between non-Catholics as valid, unless it is learned that there are grounds for an annulment in a particular case. So yes, if a non-Catholic who is divorced wishes to marry a Catholic, he or she must be able to have the first marriage annulled by the Catholic Church.
