Does the Catholic Church use GEMATRIA in Scripture?

How do Catholics view the symbolic significance of numbers in the bible? Is it viewed as witchcraft or a sense of false worship like astrology? Is there a ministry towards understanding the implications?

I’m a practicing Catholic studying CCC and assisting in RCIA teaching and learning latin (in the near future 🙂 ). I’ve heard of Jewish sects dedicating their lives toward understanding the codes but I’m not sure how Catholics view this area of study.

For Catholics the ultimate significance of both the Old and New testaments is the revealing of Jesus Christ. Such numerical exercises have no place in Catholicism.
