My wife and I have seven children. We have been very faithful to the Church’s teaching regarding being open to children and not using artificial contraception. However, now my wife is 42 years old. Since our youngest (John Paul) was born two years ago she has developed severe asthma and is required to take ADVAIR in order to breath properly. In addition, she has heavy bleeding each month to the point where she has developed anemia and seems to be near hemoraging each month.
We are seriously concerned for her health each month due to this heavy bleeding. We both have significant concerns about what might happen if she were to concieve again.
Her doctor has suggested Uterine Ablation and initial tests indicate that she is a very good candidate for this procedure. We want to make sure we are making a decision that is consistant with Church teaching and moral law. In addition we want to make sure we are not over looking any negative effects (short term or long term) of the unterine ablation procedure. Thank you for any information you can give us as we consider this difficult decision.
