Does the Church consider non-Catholic marriages valid?

If I was married in a Christian church before God (though a Catholic may argue this point), do I understand that in the eyes of the Catholic Church I am living in sin? I believe that in God’s eyes I am married, even though the Church may not recognize it. Thank you.

Assuming that neither you nor your spouse have been Catholic (and therefore bound to observe the Catholic form of marriage) and assuming that there was no obvious impediment to your marriage (e.g., another marriage, close blood relationship), the Church would presume that your marriage is valid. Indeed, if both you and your spouse are baptized, the Church would presume your marriage to be sacramental.
