Does the Church have an official position on Centering Prayer?

Does the Church have an official position on Centering Prayer? I am devout Catholic, my husband is a member of the UCC. His church recently started a session on Centering Prayer, and I thought it might be a good thing for the two of us to share. Centering Prayer was started by Catholic monks. I have been practicing the method for a few weeks. Seems many Catholic parishes offer Centering Prayer sessions as well. But I’ve been reading about some of the negative perspectives on it. Should I continue?
