Does the church say it's okay to read the Harry Potter books?

I was just wondering if it is okay to read/own the Harry Potter series? And what the church says about them. Because my mom and I were talking and she had watched something that said they weren’t okay. And I’ve read different things. Some says that there okay and others say there not. Please let me know, because I’m very confused :confused:
