Does the devil knows if a catholic baby is destined by God to even greater things?

I read the “Mystery of Wizards Clip,” story wherein the devil was rocking the baby-crib of a baby very hard hoping something bad might happen to it. This baby later became a great Jesuit (the head of the Jesuits in America in the 1800s).

So anyone can share their knowledge if the devil knows if a person (while still a baby) will do great things for God in the future?

I think that the Devil could be able to know a fact like that, but only if God allowed him to. However, I’m not sure, so I suggest that you ask a theologian in a different thread.

God bless,

What the devil has is knowledge of the traits, abilities, temptations, and general skills of a family line. He also has experience deceiving countless souls and fighting for them.

Think of this as a type of ultimate profiling.

Also I suspect that he may be able to discern the special graces a soul has and by the number of guardian angels the importance of its mission for the salvation of souls.

Otherwise he doesn’t know the future nor can he fathom the effects of grace on a soul.

He also has no further knowledge or revelation of heaven beyond what he knew before his fall.

Since heaven is a constant experience and new revelation of gods infinite goodness with our finite minds we learn new joys in heaven.

Satan on the other hand has no access to life or heaven and is in a constant state of growing darkness and decay.

What john says about the darkness not comprehending the light is very illuminating I think.

That is why we must live a sacramental life and pray often. Because we too need to constantly replenish ourselves with gods light.

Every baby no matter who, has the potential to do great things. The devil probably has suspicions on everyone but I do not believe the devil can rightfully know if someone (born) will become a saint. That is beyond his power. The only baby I suspect the devil knew who would do greater things was the Lord Jesus Christ. We know this because of the way Herod tried to kill the baby Jesus. However God might make it known that a certain individual is destined to be a saint and here the devil makes note of this as well. However it is very unlikely that God will announce that a certain baby is destined to be a saint. When God is calling you to become someone greater He tends to make this known to you later on in your life.

No.The devil would have to know the future for this. The devil is more intelligent than men, but simply being intelligent wouldn’t allow him to know the future.

And yet the devil is better able to calculate probabilities because of his experience and his access to vast information about people.

While the devil does not see the future he does understand prophecy and scripture.

This the future revealed by God the devil then uses his information to frustrate gods plans.

That is why evil in the world is so strongly positioned against he Jewish people, especially the blood line of King David.

The devil can also read or listen to the revelations given to Saints. God speaks to his people and Satan listens. He problem though is no matter how smart Satan is he is outnumbered, outmatched, and does not comprehend the light because he has none.

That said he works on our wills to disfigure us to a point where we hate God and flee from his presence, just like Satan.

We are all called to be saints. Satan will try to rob you of god and heaven, and if he can, frustrate your success as a holy person so you cannot influence others to holiness.

Is it true that some people have more than one guardian angel?

My apologies for answering this question when it was seemingly posed to someone else. But I did want to say something at this point.

I’ve heard from a particular source I won’t mention—he’s a traditionalist priest who has sermons and talks online—that it’s understood that **priests **have a second guardian angel they’re given at ordination. I’ve also heard, from the same source, that parishes have guardian angels, and that it’s a possibility that families do as well. Moreover, someone like a Bishop or the Pope may be given a guardian angel that is from a different rank than someone like me: a more powerful angelic being from one of the nine choirs, but not necessarily *more *angels than one or two.

But I’ve really never heard anyone claim that individuals have **multiple **guardian angels from birth if they’re especially “important.” I also understand there’s an open question in theology regarding the question of whether or not the unbaptized even have guardian angels. To be sure, I’m not well-read or well-educated, so I might be missing something obvious.

BlueKnight, I would be interested in your source for that claim. Is this just a personal view you’ve gleaned from those who may have gifts of discernment or who might be involved in exorcist ministry? I understand if, under those circumstances, you couldn’t demonstrate your claim with some sort of authoritative source.

Mary of Agreda. She said the blessed mother was given 100 angels from each choire for 900 and 100 seraphim in addition at conception. This in the book mystical city of god.

Personal friend who was one of the daughters of an Anglican archbishop of Africa knew she had at least two special angels associated with her protection. She had special virtues and a holy disposition.

Pastor Howard pitman while watching souls cross over he bridge from earth to heaven. Some souls had more angels with them because of the work they did on earth for the church. From his youtube clip and book called Placebo.

The bible talks about multiple angels ministering Christ and being sent to help christians.

Daniel who fasted for 21 days and his ministering angel mentioning he needed the help of st Michael to take on the prince of Persia to get through.

Those are the ones that come to mind.

Demons generally move and attack in groups and have a leader.

I would assume that likewise many souls who are on the front lines and frequently engage in spiritual warfare would have more angelic protectors or ministering angels.

I see, BK.

I hope, therefore, that others who might see this thread would understand the speculative nature of that assertion. The Scriptural allusions are not exactly convincing, and the two Protestant (?) sources are much less so. This leaves an assertion about the BVM, which, of course, exists in a multi-volume work, and deals with someone who is utterly singular. It’s not really important, of course, I probably shouldn’t even be bringing this up with you.

But sometimes I do wonder why folks make the claims they do, especially when they deal with rather arcane subjects the Church has not really said much about. I think it’s important that people know what is actual Church teaching and what is private speculation, and also where it comes from.

I’m sure there’s a spiritual theologian or three somewhere who’s written about this subject; perhaps someone else knows of some.

Im continually amazed at how many ‘allowances’ an angel, whom we are told, rebelled against God in the worst way possible, corrupted ENTIRE mankind thru his tempting Eve, managed to steal 1/3 of Gods angels, was kicked out of heaven, yet his existence doesnt appear to be that bad…sounds like he is doing exactly what he wants to be doing…tempting souls, influencing hundreds of millions of humans, has an army of demons doing his evil deeds for him…plus, continually being given ‘permission’ from God to all sorts of things…??

LOL, Im sorry, but as wrathful as God is supposed to be, I would have thought at the FIRST sign of this kind of rebellion from Satan, God would have just turned him and the other rebelling angels, to dust, right there on the spot, totally wipe them from existence, no record of them even existing.

Maybe we all should be start acting like this, nations included, giving your enemies, all sorts of leeway, give them permission to know and access all your people, at any given time, making sure they retain any and all of their powers, maybe even giving them some extra powers too?

Well, to be quite frank, you’ve really just made an argument against perceiving God to be wrathful and without mercy. Clearly, that sort of God doesn’t fit the evidence.

The great paradox is that God permits Satan to exist because He loves him, and He wills him to have some sort of good rather than none at all. Or, at least, that’s my amateur understanding of things. I’m not a professional theologian.

if he loves him, that means he would forgive satan.

If that is Gods wrath, than Hell will be a breeze! (just kidding of course).

I thought judgement was immediate, but I guess thats the not the truth when it comes to some of Gods creations, instead, they get 10s of 1000s of extra years, running amok, doing as they like…?? Do all sinners get this treatment?

Love is willing the good for another. God is love. But He is also mercy, and He is also justice.

In justice, God does not retract His giving to the angels free-will. Moreover, He does not retract the sort of intelligence He gave them, which can, in an instant, fully analyze the repercussions of something, and make a decision based on that data. God does not, on the one hand, offer them an option; and then, on the other, override that option when they make a sinful decision which, as all sin, is utterly stupid.

Fallen angels got exactly what they absolutely knew they would get and which they chose with their free-will and with their intelligence. God loves them, and therefore He keeps them in existence, since existence a greater good than non-existence.

No, we humans get extra chances, because we’re stupid. As I said above, the angels have a different intelligence from us, one which is not slowed down by matter, and which doesn’t have to reason from point a to b to c to d to e. The angels see everything at once, and, at their creation, had all knowledge of all created things infused into them. They don’t “learn” things.

So yes, God gives us extra chances, because He has mercy on the contrite and on the stupid. 🙂

In terms of their running amok, their temptations can be a great service to us, since with them we prove our love for God and it is strengthened. But moreover, we could even fall without them.

After all, Satan did fall as well. He didn’t have a proto-Satan tempting him, he simply sinned of his own accord. As could we.

I’m not sure theologians have the answer to all spiritual realities. Almost sounds like sola scriptura. I would suggest a little reading on the lives of the saints to fill in he blanks.

And I wouldn’t discount the accomplishments or experiences of holy christians from other denominations. That sounds a bit elitist to say the least. Do you really think Jesus only blesses the Catholic Church? Ugh that always bothers me.

I have met very devout and blessed Protestants and Catholics in my sojourns.
