A friend on a Catholic website was under the impression that the some of the lectionary is NOT readings from Sacred Scripture, but has some additional non-scripture based content in the readings. Could he be referring to inclusive language, or are there other parts of the readings for the Mass that are not taken directly from the Bible?
Thanks,
Chris

Dear Chris,

The Lectionary consists only of readings from the Old and New Testaments and responsorial psalms. Some Protestants might not be familiar with some of the readings if they are from those books of the Bible that they don’t have.
