If the date on the pic is accurate, he was 18 at the time - and it was 8 years before he was ordained a priest.

Dear Brian,
Are you always so condescending towards others? Is that what you teach your kids, to publicly crititsise others for their grammar or spelling? Your smirky comment is highly unbecoming and very uncharitable.
Are you serious Dove? This is the first time I have ever commented on misspellings in any forum I’ve ever been in. They don’t bother me in the least in a setting like this. In this instance I thought leaving the L out of public 😃 was humorous for obvious reasons, and made for a lighthearted moment. There was absolutely no condescension intended and mgy seemed to get it (thank you) but maybe you didn’t. Sorry.

Yeah mgy, you dissin’ all the other Popes??? Huh? Wanna fight? Ya better not be dissin’ any Popes now, hear?! Or I’m gonna have ta have a little talk wit ya, see? 'Cause me and my family, we don’t stand for any of that, capish?
Hey, this is a forum dedicated to questions and answers, not badmouthing or condesending remarks, READ THE RULES.
maybe you need to rethink when you post rude comments. Don’t give this forum and the rest of them a bad name, we are all here in faith to sevre, to be charitable, You are part of the mystical body of Christ, act like it!!. If i see anymore of this, joking or not joking i willl report it to the administrator…very unprofessional 👍

But he (and the current pope) retained the red velvet (?) shoes :bounce: .
I have a photo of my mom at a Papal audience and JPII’s red leather shoes (with white socks, which is utterly cool!) are quite visible! When I asked what her impressions of the audience were, her very first comment was, “He wears red shoes!” 😃

Listen this is completely unacceptable, your an adult act like it!, when you make condesending remarks and degrade other people it doesn’t make for good conversation at all. And that little “humurous” point about leaving the L out of public, i find this offensive!!. So what it is a simple error, you blew iut upi and made an inappropriate statement about it! grow up. We’re not 14 year olds anymore are we? I don’t care about being called a tattletale, it doesn’t matter to me, i am looking out for the interest and welfare of those in this forum, i just joined this Catholic Answer online forum, and already i have to see this, if i wasn’t a little more educated i would have thought this relfected this whole operation!
Romans 14:13 "Then let us no more pass judgment on one another, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. "

Dear Therese Martin,
I promise, to the best of my pitifully meagar ability, to refrain from making any comments on this thread that could be misconstrued, misinterperted, or otherwise violate the delicate sensitivities of other posters. I publicly offer my deepest apologies to those whom have been the butt of my humor here, or have otherwise been offended by my comments. :o

Wow. Papal apparel really brings out the passions in all of us. Do you remember when Calvin Klein and some other famous designers proposed some new papal garment designs several years back (1990 or so) ? Mostly pant suits in the collection.

white sox.
He’s a South Sider? Well, I guess it makes sense. All those Polish people there. He was pretty popular last time he came through town. They even named a street after him in front of Five Holy Martyrs.

Earlier in his pontificate, he was an avid outdoorsman, skiier, hiker, etc. He was dressed appropriately for the event, neither too-formal nor too relaxed. I suspect the photo above shows him at a ski resort, but not actually skiing, perhaps walking around afterwards. I recall that he wore pants while skiing.
