Does the Tridentine Mass have a part like in the Mass of Paul VI that goes “Bring us together in union with NN. our Pope, NN. our Bishop…”?

I’m wondering about this because it seems that in the olden days, it would have been hard to get the message out if a Pope died or if a new one were elected. Since we were still expanding at the time and a lot of the Church was in missionary land, it would seem to be impossible to keep the prayer updated.

I might add it can sound almost comical depending on the local Ordinary’s name.

Most priests will use Benedicto(oh whatever the latin is) followed by your nice american “Daniel”

Pray, tell, what exactly are the “olden days” and “at the time”?

How do you hear?

Ideally, there would be a card in the sacristy with (among other things) the Ordinary’s name (in Latin)

I serve, we have also had Latin OF, in which the same happens

And we all know how well ideal describes the real world:D 😛

Like before the nineteenth century, before there were faster ways of communication. Where did I lose you?

**The 19th century was not that long ago, especially compared with the Church.

There also exists in the EF a votive Mass for the Pope, with its special Collect, Secret, and Post-communion, which can be celebrated on days where there’s not an important observance.

Surely there’s something similar in the OF.**
