The Catechism states in paragraph 246:
But isn’t that exactly the case with the Holy Trinity, when the Son is not the Father? I may be misunderstanding the thing, since I do know the distinction between gods and the One True God.
Can someone clear this up?
I have heard it said that an argument against polytheism is this: Neither of the gods would be perfect, since each would suffer the disadvantage of not being the other. And, since the Father has through generation given to the only-begotten Son everything that belongs to the Father, except being Father, the Son has also eternally from the Father, from whom he is eternally born, that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Son.
But isn’t that exactly the case with the Holy Trinity, when the Son is not the Father? I may be misunderstanding the thing, since I do know the distinction between gods and the One True God.
Can someone clear this up?
