Does this count as leading someone else to sin?

So I made a joke to a friend on how I could finally cheat those who tried to cheat others (in a game). Given that he thinks such behaviour is acceptable, would this count as encouraging him to do similar things/ teaching him to do such things? Thank you.

I honestly don’t know, sorry. But reading paragraph 6 of the priests’ response in the link below called What is Scandal? - I would say possibly. He mentions “Another obvious way of committing scandal is by giving bad example, without necessarily intending to lead others into sin.”

CCC #2284
and
What is Scandal?

We can be responsible for the sins of others too - see CCC #1868 and 9 ways you might be sharing in the sins of others.

I’m sorry I can’t offer any other advice. Except the usual - speak to your priest. Personally I’d mention it in confession, if you’ve sinned then it’ll be forgiven and the priest will be able to counsel you as well, which will help to form your conscience for the future.

If the act is immoral and it is made light of when it is not, then that is giving scandal. The gravity of the matter and the intention determine if it is a sin for the one giving scandal.

What do you mean by “it is made light of when it is not”?
