I have much work which has been due for a few days now, but I can finish some of it today. Is this considered necessary work even if ones teachers have forgotten about it. Also, is it unnecessary work if one studies but has another day to study for a specific thing?

On Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are to refrain from engaging in work or activities that hinder the worship owed to God, the joy proper to the Lord’s Day, the performance of the works of mercy, and the appropriate relaxation of mind and body. Family needs or important social service can legitimately excuse from the obligation of Sunday rest. The faithful should see to it that legitimate excuses do not lead to habits prejudicial to religion, family life, and health. [CCC 2185]

I think that last sentence speaks to your question. You ought not make a habit of putting off work that you could do on some other day, so that you can do it on Sunday.

If you have school work that needs to be done – do it!! You are not restricted from that work, and you absolutely should not put it off until tomorrow – do it today!

And then, as it says in the CCC, don’t make a habit of it in the future.

But you NEED to do your school work, and if it is late – especially if it is late – don’t put it off. And don’t use Sunday rest as your reason for not doing it.
