Does this count as theft?

I live about 30km (18,6 miles) away from the nearest church and I travel there by bus. The problem is, the bus tickets are very expensive for me. I just graduated from high school so after August I will no longer be able to get the student discount to my bus card which is 50%. Without the 50% discount of the ticket’s price it’s nearly impossible for me afford going to Mass every Sunday. The tickets are just too expensive.

I applied to university and had my entrance exam last week so if I can start studying in the university in August, I don’t have any problems because then I’d still get the 50% discount of the ticket price. But if my entrance exams failed (I don’t know yet, I’ll get the results in a few weeks) I’d have to pay the full ticket price until August 2016 and like I said before, that’s nearly impossible.

I was thinking that maybe I should apply for some random school where I could get in without an entrance exam and then get the 50% discount to my bus card. I don’t have any intentions to study in that random school whatsoever so would that be immoral? I would have the student discount on the bus card without actually being a student. If I did that, I’d still be able to attend Mass every Sunday without any financial problems. Any opinions?

While many will weigh in and question the morality of this, my two cents is:
Continue to use your card.
It’s a matter of very few weeks, and you ARE still a student. You’re between schools and continuing in your education. This sounds to me, anyway, scrupulous.
Bus companies offer the discount because they can afford it and they know young people can’t.
Be grateful they have such a policy and go to Mass. If it’s a huge problem for you, speak to the priest.
