Our parish priest has begin a very annoying (IMHO) practice of singing and having the congregation join in singing when he raises the host during the consecration and then again when he raises the wine during its consecration. I find this annoying because of its happening during the most solemn part of the mass. I would prefer to have silence so I could concentrate on what had just happened. Have others experienced this type of singing during the consecration? Is this allowed in the rubrics for the mass?
