For the first time in my life I am dating someone who is Catholic, he and I have been talking for nearly 9 months, dating for 8, long distance. We got into a fight in October and broke up/took a break, we started talking/dating again within about two weeks. During that time we were apart I started to look up opportunities to work in a Catholic orphanage in about two years. For whatever reason my email didn’t send my inquiry to a local one until this past Monday, they responded today saying that they would love to have me volunteer soon if possible and then work my way toward one of the positions that is not volunteer by the time I graduate college.
Here is the issue: my boyfriend is a Traditional Latin Catholic who despises the modern form of the mass, I was raised Roman Catholic and highly prefer the Latin mass but will go to either, the opportunity with the orphanage I believe is the Modern Mass and would not work well with the idea of he and I living in the same state after I graduate. I also don’t think he would approve of it because he gets upset at the idea of me attending the Modern Mass and if I got a live in position in the future that would be what I am attending. I knew he would be upset about the modern because of the way he was raised so its not a shock, and we didn’t start dating until I started attending the traditional mass. Our relationship has been rocky since the fight and this email/opportunity makes me question if he and I are meant to be together or if God is Calling me to something different.
