Does your EF provide veils for women?

I am very confused why you would say such a thing, as a Catholic. Saint Peter was the one who specifically reinforced women covering their heads when praying. You guys claim he is the first Pope. If he is, then why is it okay to ignore what he said? Does the Holy Spirit change His mind? To one Pope He says to tell women to cover their heads when praying and to another Pope He says to tell them to wear whatever they like?
Good points and excellent questions.
Some people, even church authorities at times, don’t listen to the Holy Spirit. They can make some big mistakes. The history of the Church shows that.

Head covering is not a doctrine.
So you are saying that Saint Apostle Peter, first Pope according to your doctrine and dogma, who met firsthand with Jesus Christ, Son of God, was saying only disciplines while other followers of St Peter, spiritually having ascendance and thus obedience to him, saw things above St Peter?

True, it doesn’t follow or make sense. That’s the problem that we face in the modern Church today.

Are you suggesting that head covering was a matter of doctrine or dogma?

“Lice” was my first thought on reading the title of the thread, too. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Don’t share headgear of any kind with the public. Lice are not rare; they don’t just happen to “dirty people”; and they can happen to you. All it takes is a kid who picked them up at school and doesn’t know it yet, using one of the veils and putting it back in the basket for others to use.

We might think so yes. But unfortunately, our dear clergy can be totally blind. I think recent events showed that, and the history of the church shows it clearly.

We, the faithful, are not the ones who determine whether or not something is a dogma or a discipline.

The church says head covering is a discipline. I am with the church.

Edited to fix an incorrect word choice.

You would think they would. You would think they would denounce the use of contraception as well. Yet we see a whole host of Catholics who use it and have no problem with it. Yet not much is said.

The Church does not teach head covering for women is a doctrine. And it is the Church who authentically interprets Divine Revelation including both Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition.

Edited to add:

The 1917 code of canon law explicitly called head covering a discipline.

Oops. I thought I was replying to Mary888. I knew that wasn’t what you meant.

I’m not saying all priests don’t speak on it. There are very good holy priests who do, and do so regularly. Clearly there is a lack of it though in the general church since we have record high numbers of church attending Catholics using it.

Thank you. I do get my words twisted up quite frequently. It’s an unfortunate side effect of a health issue. I usually try to catch myself before someone can quote the error.

No cases of lice have been reported from shared veils. That is different from none have happened and lice actually prefer clean hair. Grease is a natural barrier to them.

Funny how Canon Laws which govern the Church is ignored and individuals own private opinions on what should have happened/should happen etc is preferred.
