Mine does. One from John Paul II around the early 1980’s. I saw it in the rectory a couple times. It looks something like this and it has this picture of the Holy Father.

Also, What does a parish or diocese have to do/ accomplish to receive such an honor?

the one in my church is from John paul the 2 it at the back of the church

Yep we have one! Looks just like yours too! 👍

As far as I know, they have to go to Rome and somehow meet with the Pope or contact him. I’m fuzzy on the details though; sorry :o

I don’t want to undermine this special blessing, but I’ve seen one of those at an independent chapel as well. Alongside it was a picture of the pastor and the Pope.

Papal blessings can be given to commemorate special occaisons like weddings, annisversaries, ordinations, etc. Call your chancery office and request an order form. You fill it out and return it with a check (I think it $35). The Bishop then forwards your request and check to the appropiate Vatican office for processing. It takes about 4 weeks and will come in the mail to you ready to be framed…
