Does your parish have a crucifix, a plain cross, or a resurrectifix in its sanctuary?

The church my friend got married at had a huge touchdown Jesus behind the altar. It was almost floor to ceiling size.

Oh, I see. That would technically fulfill the rule as well, too.
 
We have a Risen Christ in the sanctuary, and a large Crucifix off to one side of the church. That Crucifix used to be above the altar, but was removed when renovations were made 15 years ago or so. I guess enough people complained, so they put it back in church, but off to the side. It guess it’s visible to everyone, but it surely is not in a place of prominence.

Except during Lent (when a silly looking plain tree-branch cross is carried), the altar servers carry a crucifix in the processional. Instead of placing it next to the altar, for some reason they carry it into the sacristy (behind a closed door). Then for the recessional they retrieve it from the sacristy. I’ve never figured out why they do that – it should remain in the sanctuary.

Ours has a crucifix in the sanctuary, and an amazingly beautiful life-size crucifix off to the side, by the door to the confessional.
 
We have a crucifix, I’m guessing 10 feet tall, suspended above the altar. It’s beautiful.
 
The crucifix on our back wall of the sanctuary has to be 20 ft. in size. It is incredibly moving and above are Latin words proclaiming Jesus as being surrounded by angels, Christ our King and a figure of crown abpve the crucifix, not directly on Christ. I love it.
 
The church I attend has a rather large crucifix that was donated to it in the 1920’s - it was saved from the old church building (the current building dates to 1965 or so). They also saved the old high altar (it goes unused at mass, but does house the tabernacle) and the stations of the cross. They probably kept this stuff because the current church was originally designed to be school gym, and was only meant to be a temporary church. I’m actually kinda glad the new building was never built - they probably would have tossed all that cool stuff out.
 
For the longest time my home parish actually had a Jerusalem cross (or the “plus sign cross” as I called it when I was younger). It was a modern design parish that was more meeting hall than church .

Anyways, it has since been replaced by a large San Daimanio-like crucifix (much to the joy of the faithful) when the new pastor arrived.

it’s not a Catholic church, i don’t know what it is, but it’s in Monroe Ohio. if you drive by it’s RIGHT next to the highway and it’s way bigger that it looks in the picture. As for what it is, it’s called the “king of kings” sculpture, and their website says it’s probably the largest sculpture of Jesus in America. it’s just kind of something that’s neat to see, and if you’ve passed it you won’t forget it.

Interesting. Kinda creepy, but interesting.
 
My parish is in that late 80’s “postmodern” style. Has some elements of tradition but still looks like a modernistic church. Has the cranmer style table altar, Large stained glassed window of risen christ behind the altar and a seperate room behind the window for the tabernacle. Needless to say the churh has minimal statues and the ones it has look weird. We have a processional crucifix in a modernistic style that sits to the side of the sanctuary with candles next to it. I will give them credit for the most part the church hold up to orthodoxy but could use some help in Artwork. Seems that the modern church buildings have a fetish for Risen Christ figures and Carved wood weird statues. YUK if you ask my opinion.
 
Sadely a Resurrectifix. We have even asked if we could start a funhd to replace it with a Crucifix but the priest likes the Resurrectifix.
 
we carry a plain cross up to the altar at beginning of mass. we have a really large bronze Jesus suspended with wires above the altar. the Jesus has nails in hands and feet as though he is on cross. He has a crown of thorns.
 
Our parish has a brass crucifix about three feet tall standing in the niche over the tabernacle, which is inside the neo-Gothic high altar that has been there since the 1920’s. Before Mass, a a hidden light is turned on to highlight it, and new lighting was recently installed that brightly illuminates the whole altar. There is also a so-so wooden processional crucifix that is soon to be replaced with a older brass one currently being restored.

This is what we have in our church, although the statue is quite nice. But it is huge. We have the processional crucifix in the sanctuary during Mass. There is a crucifix in the daily Mass chapel, but it is standing, like a processional crucifix. We do have very beautiful statues,in the church (which is modern architecture.) They are in alcoves around the church. Plus we have beautiful “stained glass” windows (they aren’t really stained glass, I forget what the technique is called.) There is a huge one in the front of the church of the Holy Family, and all around the sides they depict various saints. So you are kind of surrounded by saints. The gathering space has a lot of statues and pictures also.

We have both…sort of. The crucifix (very traditional) is above the tabernacle which is at the right front of the sanctuary in the chapel area (just-renovated church.) Over and behind the altar is a very odd, large “resurrectfix”; Jesus has a trendy hairstyle (with bangs) and six-pack abs; I kid you not. My daughter finds it awfully distracting and calls Him “Bruce Jenner Jesus” which is pretty much on the mark.

We also have, just behind the altar, a truly gorgeous Italian-made mosaic of the Last Supper. Our Stations of the Cross are smaller mosaics - really quite beautiful.
