Does your parish have a crucifix, a plain cross, or a resurrectifix in its sanctuary?

Yes, that is what we have, and then a statue of resurrected Lord on side wall.

I would like to see a permanent cross in the sanctuary.

The church we go to is this way, and so are the other 3 churches we have here. I do not like these modern cold churches. I long for the old style, stain glass windows, beautiful statues, crosses, etc.
 
I came into the office yesterday to find ‘Risen Christ’ leaning against the wall. Ah, yes, thought I, the annual Risen Christ hide & seek.

For the last couple of years, they’ve been putting away the RC to replace him on the cross with a smaller crucifix that is more to the liking of an older parishioner who brings it from home for that purpose. As I understand it, it’s the crucifix that once hung where the much larger Ressurectifix now hangs. They don’t simply replace one with the other, they just take the RC figure off the larger cross and superimpose the smaller crucifix. It looks rather odd.
 
Please tell me, or show me, what is a resurrectifix?

Ours is a plain cross with a full size Jesus clothed in a white robe rising with his arms upward. It is pretty by just does not show the sacrifice as far as many of us are concerned. It would have made a nice stained glass window in the front of the building not at the altar.
 
Here’s an interesting one…

My parents’ Church removes the corpus from the cross during Lent and Advent.
 
During renovations of our church 6 years ago, the crucifix was taken down and place in the vestibule. In the sanctuary, there is now a painting of Jesus on the crucifix with onlookers.
 
We have a beautiful crucifix on the wall behind the altar. Our church is currently undergoing renovations and the crucifix has been removed for a few weeks. In its place our priest has put a nice brass standing crucifix on the altar.
 
I would probably have to start singing that horrible song by the same name (We are an Easter People). 😃

And then run…
 
My response would likely depend on who made the statement, in what context, and in what setting. Do you know those details?
 
We are an Easter people because we are sinners who Jesus died for. The crucifix reminds us of God’s great love for us.

In itself, there is nothing improper in the image of the risen Christ (if Christ is not risen, our faith is in vain). However we are required to have a crucifix on the altar or in the sanctuary during mass.
 
I’d just walk away. Most people that say that can’t be reasoned with anyways.

Go find yourself an Extraordinary Form parish, and rid yourself of this nonsense. 😉

That, or I’d say, “Yeah, but what did He have to do to rise?”
and

“Yeah? Well which act of His was offered for our salvation? His rising? Or His dying?”

I would ask it they were starting another sect! Why not have a Natiity set in their sancturary, then they can say they are Christmas People! 😃 I have never cared for the risen Christ crucifix. I like the statue. To me there is something not right about the risen crucifix. Yes, because of the Cross, Jesus had victory over death, but then He was laid in the seplicar and that is where the resurrection happened, not the cross.
