Does your parish sing the readings regularly?

In some parishes I have attended, especially, but not only, cathedrals, the Gospel will be chanted on certain feasts.

Often at papal masses, celebrated according to the OF, a deacon will chant the Gospel. This is the ideal in the Roman Rite.

I don’t know how often it’s done but it definitely can be done. My former pastor would chant the gospel at midnight Mass on Christmas and, with a couple of cantors, at the Good Friday liturgy. It was beautiful. I don’t think many priests have the ability or the confidence to do it.

This is sort of kind of how it is in my parish. I would hardly call its frequency “regular,” but it would be unfair to say none of the readings are sung. Our pastor always chants the Gospel at one particular Mass each year (I can’t remember which off the top of my head) and will sometimes chant it at a funeral Mass if the selected Gospel includes Matthew 5:3-12. The Gospel is sometimes chanted at Midnight Mass, either by our pastor or our parochial vicar. One is better at this than the other (I won’t say which ;)), but both have the ability and the confidence to do so.

The two assistant priests never sing any reading. I don’t know if this is due to personal preference, acknowledgment of limitation, and/or fear.

My parish does every reading sung, but that’s because the Ruthenian Rubrics require it. As in, it’s not optional within the Byzantine Rite Ruthenian-American Use.

I’ve encountered only rare Roman OF use of sung readings - Dominican friars in private masses.
 
Actually, now that I recall, the FSSP priest chanted the Gospel in Latin when I attended an EF Mass in January. Every memory I have of that Mass is beautiful. 🙂
 
Lots of singing at my FSSP parish. I assist at several parishes which use the Novus Ordo form of the Mass and the priest at one of these parishes is incorporating chant into the Mass (not the readings or gospel) and it is lovely.
