Does your parish teach about keeping the 3rd precept of the church, the Easter duty?

I know that the older Catholics who were taught the Baltimore Catechism, may remember this precept, but I wonder about the younger ones.

I know about it through religious ed, but I’m not sure if Father ever mentioned it in his homilies or not…

I learned it when I was studying for my Confirmation (different parish, different state, many years ago) but the priest at my parish now has never said anything. I know that in RCIA when I helped out they didn’t say anything about the Precepts of the Church. I don’t expect him to say anything anytime soon either.

I probably should have explained what the Easter duty constitutes.
All baptized Catholics who have received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion are expected to receive both, at least once during the year particularly during the Easter season.

Hi, I voted “what is the Easter duty?” Then I looked it up, and of course I was familiar with it. I don’t think I knew that these things were called precepts of the Church, but I knew that these were things that we are obligated to do.

I don’t think it is mentioned by the priest because I don’t think that it is very common that people don’t do it.

Has anyone come accross people who don’t observe this?

I ditto e-catholic.

They did not mention it as a requirement, but there has been much more talk of Reconcilliation lately. We went to a “Family Reconciliation Service” I was pleasntly surprised at the amount of families that were in attendance.
