Does your parish use incense?

Few parishes around me seem to use incense with any regularity, or even during feasts. Does your parish use incense?

No and I really miss it! Maybe it is just the curmudgeon in me, but I have trouble believing that the human race got by for the last 2,000 years with incense (and many thousands of years before, counting the pagans), but suddenly has become so weakened that we fear it like the plague.

Does anyone know where one can buy Catholic incense for personal use?
 
Always for Eucharistic Adoration, and some special Masses (and even then, just around the altar).

Thankfully, only rarely at my current parish.

The pastor at my old parish used to use it pretty regularly. So, I would try to go to a Mass being celebrated by one of the associates.

I am highly allergic and have had to leave mass in the past when incense was being used.

Does your town have a Catholic religious goods/supply company? They carry incense. Many have websites.
 
yes, my church uses incense every week, and lots of it! 😃
Now on the other hand, another local catholic church NEVER uses it, not even for Easter or Christmas!🤷
 
My church uses copious amounts of incense… every week. It wouldn’t be an Orthodox church without it. 😃

I’m more impressed with your censor acrobatics than with the amount of incense burned. Us Latins tend to be quite timid when it comes to incensing. 😛

I remember the first time I went to a Byzantine Liturgy, I couldn’t believe Father just twirled that thing around like it was nothing. I was just waiting for all the coals to fall out.

The parishes where it is seldom used because of allergies do it out of respect for those allergic to it. Otherwise they would probably not be able to come at all. It is still an optional part of mass.

The ancient Jews used incense too and they aren’t “pagans.”

Yes… Loads… but most Eastern Catholic Parishes do.

The nearby Roman parish doesn’t for most Sundays, but does for Exposition and Benediction, Easter Masses and Christmas Masses.

I’ve never seen a Catholic Christmas liturgy without incense. I’ve heard such things happen, tho… 😉
