Dog Muck & Mortal Sin

Is it really a mortal sin if your dog goes to the toilet in a out of the way area and you don’t pick it up even if the law states you must. Now the law says you can’t murder someone and if you murder someone that obviously constitutes grave matter THOU SHALT NOT KILL.

But petty things like not picking up dog muck (which is in a out of the way area and a natural thing) are not mortal sins are they? Even if the law says you must?
 
It’s according to why you didn’t pick it up. If you left it out of spite just because you could, then it could be a very serious issue. Kind of like walking in to a restaurant and saying God says I shouldn’t steal, but I’m gonna steal anyway because I’m free to do so, then taking all the napkins.

Leaving it because you don’t have a bag to pick it up is much different than leaving because you don’t want to be bothered simply because it’s trivial.

Now that being said, whether or not it’s a mortal sin… it’s still rude to leave your dogs poop in someone else’s yard, or even in an out of the way area. In our own yards it’s one thing. In the forest another… in the back of the park where kids might be playing, completely different.

When I walk our dog if I forget a bag when I take her home, I put her inside and then get a bag and go back and get it.
 
Just be sure to pick it up along public paths, near water, and out of other people’s yards.😉

Or next Halloween there might be a tombstone:
Here lies cold and hard
The last darn dog that
Pooped in my yard.
 
Not a mortal sin,but nice if you did pick it up. I live in an area where I do have a yard, so my large dog does his business there, and then later when I walk him (I hope) he’s finished, but must be hard if you live in a city,

How does the act effect the Law of “love thy neighbor as thyself”?

Well, if it is a mortal sin, I would guess that any eternal punishment might have less to do with being surrounded by heat, as opposed to being surrounded by, uh, something else . . . .

ROFL!! Best response ever!

That said, it’s likely a venial sin if it’s a sin at all. I think it’s untidy, but I don’t think it’s sinful (I suppose it could be a venial sin if it happened on someone’s lawn, since it could constitute damaging another’s property. And if there’s a state law, it might be a venial sin since it’s breaking a reasonable and just human law.).
