The way I understand the teaching of the Orthodox church is this:
1: In order for a council to be declared ecumenical it has be be accepted by all of the Patriarchs ans Bishops. It must must then be accepted by the the lay persons.
Here is the question:
If all of the Orthodox bishops hold a council and agree on something how likely is it in **todays society **for the Lay Orthodox to agree with the opinion of all of their Bishops?
