A book was published in the 1830’s titled The Awful Disclosures of Maria Monk. This book exposed

the horrific happenings to a young Canadian girl who escaped:thumbsup: from the clutches of the papists

by managing somehow to get out of a convent that was home to the infamous Black Nuns.:bigyikes: Allegedly this order existed primarily to serve as prostitutes for te local priests

The convent, Hotel Dieu in Montreal, was full of secret passages, hidden rooms and even a dungeon where recalcitrant and disobedient sisters were starved to death.

There were tunnels which led to secret crypts where all the children born of the unions of the Priests and Nuns were entombed shortly after birth.
Sometime earlier, another escaped nun, Rebecca Theresa Reed published a work entitled Six Months in a Convent, which exposed the unrelenting horrors of life in an Ursuline convent in Charlestown, South Carolina. In August 1834, that convent was burned down by an angry mob, convinced that women were held there against their will. I guess the book had the desired effect.
Lest you think these attitudes have disappeared in these enlightened times there are several hundred or more anti-Catholic sites that are active on the web right now and anti Catholicism is big business. I direct you to my personal favorite
jesus-is-lord.com/charlot1.htm
It clearly and concisely exposes the horrific carnage that is brought forth by adherance to Romanism:thumbsup:
ps, the part about her escape from the Convent is a masterpiece!!! You’ll love it.
Some people such as Jack Chick of Chick Tracts fame has made a good living exposing the Catholic Church and its horrors for the past forty years or so. Other people such as Dave Hunt constantly appear on talk shows and jas numerous debates with Catholics seeking to destroy the faith.
Anti Catholicism is as old as America itself and in many ways really hasn’t died down that much. being old enough to remember I can tell you that during the election of President John Kennedy, one of the things that was brought out unceasingly was that he, as a Catholic would let the United States be run by the Vatican.
I’m not making that up.
