This study goes on to say that “The act of charity is something we do because we are all one, but not because it makes us feel good. It may make you feel good, but that is not why you give.”

Actually, I don’t think the study says that, that is the quote of a unitarian minister giving her opinion of why people give. Is her opinion correct? That is a debatable, and perhaps testable hypothesis.

I agree it is debatable, but needs some qualifications.
It brings to mind St. paul saying: “God loves a cheerful giver.”
when I give to my Church, or say Catholic Extension Society, I do it because yes “we are all one”, but I do it because “it maked me feel good.”
Don’t you love it when those in the behavior science tell us why we give to charity?
