i have been told the catholic faith supports the practice of domestic discipline specifically the spanking of wives for discipline by husbands or girlfriends by boyfriends. can somebody clarify this for me
 
No that is not the something that we Catholics would say to do.

(wives are not children but wives)

However my wife might get me with a frying pan.😉
 
Catechism of the Catholic Church:

1645 "The unity of marriage, distinctly recognized by our Lord, is made clear in the equal personal dignity which must be accorded to man and wife in mutual and unreserved affection."155

The wife is married to her husband --she is not his child. With equal dignity. The husband is to lay down his life for her…to sacrifice for her.

*Not *“treat her as a child”.

Such would be contrary to her being of equal personal dignity and well - his wife.

Just as if my wife started treating me like a child (well…except …for well…how she has to clean up after me sometimes…hee hee)

Nope: that would be considered abuse and violence, and would therefore be “grave matter” or “gravely sinful.”

What you’re speaking of is a creepy sexual fetish. What the OP is speaking of is a movement within some Fundamental Extremist camps that treat the husband as “Lord and Master” where he does spank the wife when he deems she needs punishment and the women are brainwashed into thinking this is appropriate. Don’t know why someone told the OP it’s a Catholic thing…maybe just more of the “worship Mary, pray to statues/idols anti-Catholic nonsense” that gets spread around. Either way, it’s just wrong.
 
I think whomever told that to the OP meant to say “Someone told me that late 19th century Mormon polygamists believe” but it came out “Someone told me that Catholics believe” by accident.

I am well-educated in a legal-related field. I have recently come to realize I am CDD, Christian Domestic Discipline consensual. Though I don’t think my conservative Christian background directly supports it, the idea that the woman/wife is submissive is a direct contributor. I think this will and should become less controversial for responsible couples. As it stands, organized religion is looking for solutions that are working for almost deteriorated and failing heterosexual relationships.

There are lots of websites that cater to your lifestyle. Perhaps you’d find people there who share your interests. 🙂
 
True, there are other sites. The churches don’t support it but don’t want to see Christians on the streets. I think it isnice to have scriptures and they emphasize spankings only reducing the chance of violence.
