Anyone up to snuff on the Dominican laity or Dominican secular orders?

I’d like to join a secular order or a lay group with the intention of eventually making “promises”, or possibly consecrating myself, and to live out my life in such a state.

I am attracted to various charisms and the Dominican order seems to maintain one that appeals to me; as well as the Carmelites.

I tend to be attracted to several forms of spirituality but I maintain a consistency in my desire for orthodoxy (and I tend to be turned off with various forms of social activism and politics; I believe in the catechism and if it happens to intersect with various issues, then so be it).

God bless to all.

Hi Christmasknight,

I’m a member of the Dominican Laity. If you tell me what city/state you’re in, I can get you in touch with a person near you to answer any questions about the DL.

Our ‘pillars’ are Preaching, Prayer, Community, and Study. It’s very Orthodox. Our chapter in Tucson, AZ is under the Western Province, connected to Fr. Serpa!

God Bless and Good luck.

Barbara

P.S. I am going to be out of town for a week so it will be next week before I can reply to you.
