Don’t Protestants accuse Mary with Adultery?

It’s possible for a woman to have a valid marriage ( God to Mary) and then remarry in a second invalid marriage (Joseph to Mary) and live in a state of grace, if the woman lives a chaste life (no sin) with the second husband. Having relation with the second husband in this state would be adultery.

You ignored my response, as you must because you have not proven they were married, in what way were they married?

I believe Jesus is the only person to walk this earth without sin. So, no, in my mind it is not possible.

Also, Mary and Joseph had children together. So, this again is not possible.

BTW: I totally believe in the grace of God. He gives it freely as a gift to all who accept His plan of Salvation through faith in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus.

They were married through the conception of Christ. The union between God (as the Holy Spirt) and Man to produce the begotten son of God, as God made flesh. God is not of this world, his ways are not our ways, so yes you are correct that they were not “married” in the way a man and a woman are “married” which is definded as “the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.” but “marriage” also means “a blending or matching” and by this defination what happen between the Holy Spirt and Mary was indeed a marriage of divine origin by which Earth cannot comprehend and Heaven cannot deny.

From my childhood I always though that Protestants where accusing Mary of Adultery, when they claimed that Mary had relations and children with Joseph.

I really hope this is an honest question, so I am going to answer it in an honest way…

To my knowledge there is no christian belief that teaches Mary to be an adulteress. That would cheapen her and I really don’t think that God would choose a woman that weak to be the mother of His Son.

For this scenario to ‘work’ scripture would not have to specify that it would be better for a man to be married to a woman if he was to have intercourse… For this scenario to ‘work’ then the prostitutes of the scriptures would have been married to each and every man they were with… Your scenario does not hold water.

Nuh-uh There is no greek (or latin) word for step-brother or cousin, so when Matthew refers to Jesus’s brothers and sisters that doesn’t mean they were biologically related to him.

The term “brother” used in Matthew 13:55-56 & Mark 6:3 cannot be translated as “cousins.” In Colossians 4:10, it uses a separate Greek word. John 1:41 uses the same term of Peter and his brother.

Yes. Beyond a shadow of doubt in my mind Mary was not the spouse of the Holy Spirit. Nothing in scripture, whether you look at the prophecies or the books of the bible, says that Mary will be or was married to God. But that is the kicker isn’t it? Since there is nothing to affirm one belief over the other why do we still bicker about it??? If she was the spouse of the Holy Spirit then she was a biggamist (or however you spell that!), married to two.

To turn the whole who knows God’s ways around… Since God is God and He can do pretty much whatever He wants, He is not bound by our human laws. God did not lay with Mary for her to conceive Christ… Why would He need to be married to her?

This is a discussion was a question raised asking whether protestants accuse Mary of being an adulteress. Not about her relationship with God and Joseph was.

I just stated that it was a tired discussion. And it is. No one is going to concede that one side is right so why do we keep going around and around about it?

Again. You keep looking at this as if I am saying that God was a human man. I’m not, therefore I am not talking about an earthly marriage. I am speaking of the union of God and man, divinity and flesh. I’m talking about Christ.
