Don’t use the kneelers

I either do the quasi-kneeling thing where I rest my posterior on the edge of the pew,
i’d been doing that for years over my knees, as well as supporting my weight with my arms while genuflecting.

My knees got so much better when I joined an EC parish!
Yes I mean knee to knee transmission via a kneeler?
See! Once again, the mandate for ankle length skirts is vindicated!
😜 😱
typically neither men nor women would be wearing clothes in church that leave the knees uncovered.
uhhm . . . the first time I parsed that sentence . . . 😱 (ok, need stronger reading glasses!) [or maybe a longer attentions span to process the whole sentence at once . . .]
How do you cope with driving a car?
driving? Easy to cope with. The other drivers on the road here? Abject fear! [long ago, the first thing my father told me when I sat down behind the wheel was to assume that the other drivers were out to get me, because half of them really were. Time has shown me that he was an omptimst . . .]

A lot of people wear shorts or skirts that hit above the knee in the USA when weather is warm.

A knee length skirt or knee shorts are modest. When you kneel, they are not long enough to cover your knees though.

Sorry about this experience.
I didn’t say this to her, but I would think my mask did more good than not touching the kneeler… not a big deal, but it bugged me, especially being “confronted” after Mass.
Yes…obviously…wow!

Covid-19 is a threat…no doubt. Often I think the greater threat is people’s irrational and judgemental behavior.

I prefer to kneel at mass too…

Yes I mean knee to knee transmission via a kneeler? It would be one thing if they were just SUPER careful but to care about the kneeles and not wear mask?!?
Right. So, if they were passing out knee masks for congregants to wear, I could see the admonition. But, if they’re not even wearing masks, I’m thinking knee-to-knee transmission is the least of their worries…

You have to assume that the other guy on the road is an absolute idiot who’s going to do something dangerous when you least expect it. It’s called “defensive driving”.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I didn’t see any notice nor did I see anything on the website. That said, they had run a thin red rope along the kneelers… in hindsight that should have made it obvious that the kneelers were off limits…but it’s not like this red rope impeded me lowering the kneeler. I remember thinking they had just tied the rope from the roped off pews to the kneelers to anchor it…

And like I said in the OP, at the previous daily Mass I had been to at the same parish two days earlier, I was not the only one kneeling. It’s also worth nothing that while this lady approached me, the priest said nothing.

I have always used my foot to lower the kneelers. Economy of motion. In the past I have not used them and just kneeled on the floor, but recently, I have knelt in a store to get to the bottom shelf and felt great pain to get back up. Just use your foot or don’t kneel I suppose. What a bother.

I do the same thing. “Economy of motion” is just part of my natural body language — I am a very calm, quiet, sedate person. Why bend over and extend your arm when you can do the same thing, more easily and more hygienically, with your foot?

Forgive me, but that’s inane. Also, at least in Orthodoxy it’s a sin to pay attention to what others are doing, such as who is taking communion, making prostrations, crosses themselves, or whatnot. I seriously doubt Catholicism is any different on that score. Sounds like she’s got a sin she needs to confess on her hands there.

So what if they had to sanitize something? Who cares? By that logic they already have to sanitize the pews y’all are sitting in. Where was their announcement, if it was so very important? I’d rather see them all wear masks than police who can or can’t kneel. I would have told her about the mask thing to her face. You’re better than me for not going there.

Yeah, sure. But I won’t spend my life in fear over every single bad thing that can happen. How do you cope with driving a car?
But this is a bad thing that you can spread to others easily and quickly.

I understand using basic common sense when it comes to hygiene, but this has gotten completely out of control. This scamdemic is getting in the way of our religious freedoms. Catholics should be scared but an alarming number of them are not. Let us not forget history…

yeah, but there’s a difference between assuming it for defensive reasons, and the horror of discovering that they actually want to kill you . . .

If you don’t want to risk spreading diseases to other people, you can never leave your house.

Silly comment. We are talking about the worst global health crisis in a century. People who to try to compare it to motor accidents etc are …well I’d better not say what I really think as I might get suspended by the moderators. People who think it’s a hoax or exaggerated - every country in the world would disagree with such nonsensical thinking.
Anyone who takes covid-19 lightly is acting against the health safety of their loved ones and society at large.

I suppose you have never heard of the Asian flu of 1957, that killed between 1-4 million people. So no, the coronavirus is not the worst global health crisis in a century. The virus most definitely isn’t a hoax (I have had it), but the “protective meassures” aren’t appropriate. The survival rate is over 99 %.

No, I am not one of the “Trump people”, in fact I’m not even American. And as I said, I have already had the virus and I am fine, so you don’t need to worry.

So you have never heard of the Asian flu? Almost no meassures were taken and bodies didn’t exactly pile up in the streets.

You are in the minority. Not a single expert agrees with your ludicrous view on this.

One what view? That almost no meassures were taken against the Asian flu? That the Asian flu killed 1-4 million people?
