Don McLean 'arrested on a domestic violence charge’

American Pie singer Don McLean has been arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault, it has been reported.

The 70-year-old is said to have been released from Knox County Jail after posting $10,000 (£7,007) bail.

McLean, who lives in Camden, Maine, had a 1971 hit with American Pie, about the deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper in a plane crash.
