I don’t see the difference. Does having the bones all in one place really change that much?

The main thing is reverence in recognition of the resurrection of the body.

The Church’s position does not mean you cannot give your corneas to some blind person, your kidneys to somebody else, your skin for grafts onto somebody else, donate your brain to Harvard, and have the rest interred. It is not possible that a body become so divided in its various parts that the Lord cannot accomplish resurrection.

It does mean that every body should be treated with the respect it deserves, and in recognition of the fact that we, in our entirety, body and soul, have a future destiny that is eternal. Our bodies should never be treated merely as compost or a mere pile of dust with some sentimental meaning.
