Is this permisable? and why is cremation wrong?
Cremains must be buried in a cemetary, placed in a permanent sealed nich in a mausoleum, or dropped into the sea in a container. They may not be kept in an urn on the mantle in the living room, scattered, seperated into different containers and given to different relatives, or put into the sea without being in a container. They should be interred soon after creamation but may be held on to for a short time in the case of a person say dying in one place, having a funeral said there, and then bringing the creamains to another place for burial. Or cremating the remains in one place and bringing the cremains to another for the funeral…we are finding this option to be happening more and more with our parishioners who have moved to the South but their children are here and want their parents buried up North.Cremation has been allowed for decades but I think there is a proviso about how the ashes may be disposed of.
