Donations for third class relics?

I know it’s forbidden to buy/sell relics of any sort.

What about if an organization asks for donations for third class relics? are there any Church documents about that? is that different?

I dont know about church documents. I got a third class relic of St. Therese of Lisieux from the Society of the Little Flower . They didn’t directly ask for money in exchange for the relic, but the offer was on a donation form, so it was somewhat implied. This is a perfectly good legitimate organization (in fact theyre fantastic) if thats what youre wanting to know.

I have bought various items on line from this Catholic website and this is what they have about third and fourth class relics:

“Generally, the Third Class Relic is a piece of cloth, but it need not be, as long as the item so touched conveys holiness and is touched with the intent that it be a third class Relic. Third class Relics may be given to individuals, and can be sold. (The Fourth Class Relic, somewhat less known, is something that has been touched to a Second Class Relic of a Saint. Generally, the Fourth Class Relic is a piece of cloth, but it need not be, as long as the item so touched conveys holiness and is touched with the intent that it be a fourth class Relic. Again, fourth class Relics may be given to individuals, and can be sold.)
