I rented the new Vacation movie, as in the updated Chevy Chase vacation movies, while Chevy was in it towards the end, this one is way more crude than the original, I dont think the original used any cuss words, if any, it wasnt much or very bad.

The new one, within 5 minutes, their 9 yr old and 12 yr old are using the F word around their parents, with parents using it probably same or more in front of the kids, plus, I noticed when the younger kid used this word, both parents didnt correct or scold him, usually when a young kid says this in a movie, the parent or adult immediately scolds them for using the word or shows amazement at their language…not so in this movie!!

They also went out of their way to show what a ‘normal’ amount of sexual partners a person should have before getting married, in this case, his wife admitted to around 30, it was no big deal…!!!

I was really shocked in the direction they went with this film.

Most rated r movies have the F word.

Check review sites for warnings on profanity…Will save you $ next time.

The only review site that matters is Stephen Greydanus’ DecentFilms.COM. Interestingly, “Vacation” isn’t listed on the site at all…
AFAIK, SDG never reviewed everything that was coming out – with a family to take care of, he doesn’t have time to see everything, and IIRC he’s said that many films aren’t worth bothering with. And over the past couple of years, he’s curtailed his reviews even more, because he’s studying for the diaconate.

It’s been quite a while since I saw the original series, and I don’t remember if there was profanity in it, but I do distinctly recall it having enough crude and sexual-oriented ‘jokes’ or scenarios that it made me feel a bit ill at times.

yes there were, but probably tame by today’s standards!

It was really more gross than anything else. Something about hick cousins having sex with their father or something?

I didn’t care for that, or for Chevy Chase’s wandering eye even though Bevery d’Angelo isn’t exactly lacking in the looks department. But in general the point of the whole trip seemed to be to put the family members in the most cruelly humiliating situations possible. I guess I didn’t really ‘get’ the humor.

It did have John Candy in it, so it wasn’t all bad.

Was John Candy in it? I guess I don’t remember that.

.
I dont remember that…only thing close was when they went to ‘cousin eddies’ farm on the way to wallyworld and eddies daughter makes a comment about being experienced in french kissing thanks to one of her teachers, yea, its crude, but pretty tame by todays standards.

My problem with the updated version is, they could have made the situations just as funny but left out the constant F word and other sexual things, I found the whole ‘Albanian SUV’ very funny, with all its useless features, its about the only thing I liked about the movie.
