a familiar face/voice on EWTN said Friday 11/17/17 not to doubt anything about Fatima,as that amounts to doing what it says in the above title.

this host was speaking very strongly about Fatima, that it contains “everything” in the gospels. And, it seems, we haven’t even seen Sr. Lucia’s 7,000 page diary translated yet

anybody else catch this ? was I dreaming?

The faithful are not required to believe in any Marian apparation or messages. Everything necessary for salvation has already been revealed. Whlie it might be approved by the Church and might contain wisdom, there is a danger that people follow “Fatima” or “Guadalupe” or even “Medjugorie” instead of the Catholic Faith.

This is not doctrinally sound advice.

One is free to completely disregard ANY private revelation with no loss of faith or salvation.

It is pure hubris to stretch not choosing to believe in a private revelation as the same as calling someone a “liar”. One can choose to, in charity, not believe a revelation. It is not kind or charitable to call someone a liar.

I think the danger is minimal at best. Why would Mary bother doing such things if there was any reasonable danger of leading people away from her son?

Did not watch EWTN on Friday, however, I have heard Fr Andrew Apostoli say that those who go around saying that Russia has not been consecrated or the 3rd secret has not been fully revealed ARE by those doubts calling St Pope John Paul II, among others, liars.

@BayCityRickL

I don’t have TV besides for my Netflix subscription. 😱 🙀 Too yesterday.

I’m excited to see St Lucia’s diary translated. There is probably an Olympian mountain of spiritual treasures inside of those pages. Her life was certainly incredibly unique from childhood onward. She has seen & experienced things that the rest of us will never experience in this life.

They might need a “best of” version for her diary though if it really is in excess of 7000 pages. I’m currently about halfway through St Faustina’s dairy.

This is probably the context for the statement. If so, the thread title is misleading. In any event, neither Sr. Lucia nor St JP II ever to my knowledge put Fatima on the level of public revelation. But the pope was criticized by many for allegedly incompentent consecration of Russia. So was Pope Benedict, who claimed the Pope’s consecration was competent.

However a minor industry has developed, which sells books and magazines, and boosts internet hits, by pushing the agenda that Russia was not consecrated. One person who is big on the trad websites, along with a suspended priest, tried to get the atheistic EU to put pressure on then-Pope Benedict to re consecrate, even though Sr. Lucia said it was done properly.

I see another trad website is introducing this agenda, along with references to St Padre Pio and an exorcist, and Vatican intrigue. Truly a cash cow.

hey! we don’t use the metric system, either; use Fahrenheit for temperature, too, not Celcius. we drive on the right-hand side of the road. We have parking lots, not car parks. Our cars have trunks, not boots. our football has two pointed ends opposite each other. And, we have baseball ‘world series’ even though we don’t play other countries. we’re the only country to use nuclear bombs – to end a war, not to start one, if anybody’s paying attention. Have I left anything out?

You mean there actually are other countries? I had heard the legend, but I thought it was just a made up literary device, to convey some lesson.

What about dragons, are they real, too?

You have a car hood, not a car bonnet.
Chips are french fries and crisps are chips.
A waistcoat is a vest.
Trousers are pants.
An aubergine is an eggplant.
Biscuits are cookies.
You say 'erbs instead of herbs. 😁
