I admit, I’m quite surprised this thread has gone on for so long. When BintuluChuchGuy started this provocatively titled thread (six months ago!) and then quickly abandoned it, I thought the thread might elicit the standard flurry of immediate activity but then quickly die out. Alas, it has proven much more persistent! 😉

I like talking about music, though, so I have found it to be enjoyable. :o

Now, I leave you with the wise words of the Christian glam metal band Stryper: “To hell with the devil!” 🙂
 
I saw Metallica live in concert last night for the 5th time. It was good.

I LOVE U2!!! Favorite band! Saw them in concert very recently!!! I also listen to Nickelback, which is much worse than U2, but some of their deeper stuff is pretty solid (“How You Remind Me”, “I’d Come for You”). And I grew up on Metallica, AC/DC, Springsteen, Tom Petty, the Beatles, the Eagles, Led Zeppelin, etc…I actually listened to very little pop growing up unless it was wildly popular (aside from Beatles…). I mean, we all knew Hanson, Britney Spears, Spice Girls and *NSYNC, but we never heard Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, or any of that in our house. It was always some form of rock music.

I also was classically trained and sung a lot of Italian arias/opera/etc. Oh, I must be such a Satanist. 😃
 
Didn’t Elvis also sing Gospel music? Does that make Gospel music satanic?

Actually, in the midst of your childish comments here, you fail to understand the real point. It is not that one cannot support something made by a non-Catholic. What matters is what is made. Bach was a protestant, yet the Church considers his music to be some of the best ever. If there is truth in it, then it is good, and it must be heard and appreciated. This is the case for Bach.

So, your pathetic attempt at humour actually showed how little sense your argument (which took some work to abstract from the useless nonsense the surrounds it) makes.

i think its sinful to listen to ONLY rock …

but its not necessarily sinful to listen to it once in a blue moon…

You know, you made a good point about Bach (I’m reminded of Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. It’s too bad you presented your point in such an uncharitable post. Why did you have to go and do that?

I apologize for this…I’m so choleric when I debate, and I find it difficult to hold back my temper even for one post. But it simply aggravates me to the limit when people who have no idea what they’re talking about think they can talk authoritatively on such subjects, as this guy did.

But I will try to control my choleric side and put forth a little of my melancholy 🙂

I think I inherited an “anger” gene from my Dad. I tend to lose my temper very quickly. I understand. Thank you.
