I will try to state The doctrine of Predestinationalism simply and hopefully helpfully, in layman’s terms.
It states that God is the Supreme Being. This means that God CAREs or in a longer answer using the letters of** C-A-R-E** to spell it out. A or in this case, The Supreme Being Controls And Regulates Everything. That is everything with no exceptions. Not except your life or mine or your wife’s but everything.
The doctrine states that is that He is omniscient which means He knows what He knows and has always known it. He does not learn by the two methods that we use which is empirically by learning something yesterday and then building on that knowledge today and tomorrow in a constant, continual, process or by the methodology of inference where we surmise that if this is true and that is true then perhaps this new idea we have is true. There has never been a time nor will there be a time when He does not know you and by that I mean KNOW YOU to the tiniest detail beyond what even you know let alone what the rest of us might think we know.
He is omnipresent. That means He is always everywhere so you are not now nor ever have been alone in any of your life moments be the moments moments of enjoyment or trial. He has been, is now and always will be* with ***each one of us always.
He is loving. In fact He is LOVE. He is THE life giving, Love giving Supreme Being who created us in love, keeps us in existance in love, and who provides for us in love.
LOVE is never selfish. Love is about other first and self last. That is God who puts us first that we might trust in putting Him first.
This Being of Love created us free with freewill that we might truly be free to come to know, love and serve Him in imitation of how He knows, loves and serves us or to choose to not know, love and serve Him as if we so choose. Now freewill can only be truly free if there is no limtation on your choices. His gift of freewill is truly free so everything about your life is free, if you choose not to enslave yourself to evil through the rejection of God’s desires for you. God frees us. Sin enslaves us. God can, if we give Him permission, free us from sin again and again. Freewill is truly free and we truly always have the freedom to choose freely. It is a real and always present in our life, gift from God. A gift so sacred that God goes to great and extreme lengths to ensure that our freewill is never infringed upon without our permission. Therefore each of us was shown our lives in a general way much in the same way as a casting director might show an actor a part that he would like the actor to choose to play in his production. The fact that we accepted our ‘part’ is shown by the fact that we are here. The memory of ‘knowing’ that we had been given a choice in selecting our part in God’s production, “The Story of Creation”, might infringe upon our freedom to live and learn and grow in the love and knowledge of God so it is hidden from us in that four fifths of our brain that we cannot access. There are times when God will permit a vague memory to surface to help us in our spiritual decisions. This we call “deja vue”. It is when we meet some one we have never met and yet they seem familiar or we know something about a place or event and there is no way that we could have known that information. At our judgement this information will be there for us to see that we migh see the perfection of God’s love for us and His plan for our lives. We will see how we cooperated or did not cooperate with His plan and yet how all, His Will and ours, was freely accomplished in accordance with both freewills, His and ours. We will see how He truly provided all that we needed and how we used or rejected what He provided. We will see that if we freely chose by our freewill choices our eternal reward.
So let me summarize in short all that I have said here. God The Supreme Loving Being, The Author of Life and Creation, has written the Story of Creation in a way that ensures that His Supreme Will is done even as He ensures that our freewill operates within His Will without restriction on it so that alhough He controls our lives, He is not responsible for our decisions. He created us in love to share in His love and every moment of our life is a loving, perfect gift to us from Our loving God.
So Frank, relax, trust and serve God with love, without fear for you know that He controls your life and that He has a perfect plan for your life. A plan that includes your freewill choices. A plan in which all will work for good if we let it. As we say in the Our Father, “Not my will but Yours be done.” **But live simply and not simple mindly. God has given us the Gifts of the Holy Ghost and freewill that we might freely choose wisely. Your choices are important for they form the pattern of your life.
Trust, pray and worry not for God loves and protects you. Frank I pray that God continues to richly bless you and your loved ones now and forever. Amen.

This is as frustrating as it gets. Your wife’s statement is baffling. Even if your wife has somehow presented a distorted reality to these people, they should have been able to understand the real situation and correct her. In the case of a spiritual advisor, that’s his main job. Also, a psychiatrist should have been able to quickly figure out how your wife’s insecurity is caused by her past hurts at someone else’s hands, rather than something that you, her husband, did to her.

Could it be that your wife told them outright untruths? I suppose that’s not the case. I mean, if your wife would go and tell them that you are beating her and are an alcoholic, then sure, it would be understandable that they are telling her to divorce you. But that would take deliberate misinformation from the part of your wife. Another possibility is that some of these professionals was deliberately trying to hurt you by his advice. For example, if your wife would belong to some very militant anti-Catholic denomination, I could imagine a spiritual advisor pushing her to divorce you, simply on the grounds that you are Catholic and she is not.

Joseph, I never could figure any of that out. I’ve never known my wife to lie or bend the truth. Here is what doesn’t make any sense at all. She believes, and has told people that I divorced her. Remember, she is the one that hired an attorney and fast-tracked it to less than 90 days.
I’m your basic born Catholic. She on the other hand is deeply involved. Just a little background.
It took awhile but this is what I have come to believe;
She obviously wanted the divorce but the blame had to be 100% on me. That way she hadn’t gone against her religion. The fact that her life was now controlled by three people also allowed her to escape from her religious beliefs. Infidelity was thrown in as a nice package.
I never understood the infidelity thing? She knew where I was all the time. I’m a homebody so how was I pulling that off?
I’ll never know the truth about it all. I really don’t want to give up on her but what choice do I have?
