I used to be a muslim and right now the Islamic community is celebrating Ramadan. I have many fond memories of Ramadan, like in Taraweeh where the whole Qur’an is recited. However, although I know that Islam is a false religion, I’m experiencing temptations to go back to Islam. Please pray for me. Ask the Lord to give me joy in my walk with Christ.

It sounds like you are distancing yourself from your former religion more than is necessary, more than is healthy, and more than is possible. You cannot undo your past, and there is nothing wrong with having fond memories of it, especially because Islam and Christianity have much in common.

Here is a passage from a Catholic document called Nostra Aetate:
  1. The [Catholic] Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all- powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God. Though they do not acknowledge Jesus as God, they revere Him as a prophet. They also honor Mary, His virgin Mother; at times they even call on her with devotion. In addition, they await the day of judgment when God will render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead. Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.
I would also suggest not to tell yourself (or others) that it is a “false religion”. It is a rather harsh term, and not one that I would ever use. If you arrived at the conclusion that Christianity is better for you, that is fine, but I think you are making things hard on yourself by referring to your original religion as simply “false”. It is a great tradition, and a valuable background to have even if you are now a Christian.

Last, you write that you are tempted to go back to Islam. Is there anything in particular that makes you feel this way? For example, is it a certain community feeling or a feeling of being at home that is drawing you back? If so, I would understand that. Having to go without much of what you were used to, is one of the hardest parts of conversion, and it is something that many people don’t understand. Did others in your family also convert?

God bless you.

Drac, believe it or not , ever since I learned that you have mental health issues, I’ve been praying for your healing. Now, I will add this prayer intention when I pray for you using the rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. Bear in mind always, ours is THE true religion. God bless you.

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, Implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in Thy mercy hear and answer me, Amen

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
