Why is that many tv preachers such as John Hagee, Rod Parsley, etc continuously preaching doom and gloom? Negativity? I understand about the battle between good and evil, but it seems so many of these men focus on it all the time. Do they actually preach the Gospel of Jesus? Do their congregations actually believe they have a chance of salvation or that they are doomed? Pretty sad to me. 🤷

Any thoughts?

In about a week and a half, the message of the Gospel comes shining through, and overcomes the doom and gloom.

Jon

BTW, thanks my friend for you kind words.

Not a problem buddy! I do ont understand how Christians are going to unite if they are expressing feelings of resentment, constant ‘overgeneralizing’ and pointing-fingers? Truly sad.

It isn’t doom and gloom it is the reality that one day there will be the Tribulation.

What is the purpose of all this? To let you know that the signs of the end times are upon us. And to be of Good Cheer! Our Redemption is near. The Lord cometh! be ready. Repent now .

As for salvation, it is clear to them" all who believe unto the Lord shall have eternal life" . However, you cannot fake out God. you cannot live like a pig and say you are a believer. God is no fool.

it isn’t the sin that will send you to hell, it is the lack of remorse and the failure to pick your self up and try again.Your sins are covered by the Blood of the Lamb of God.

It is only going to be dreadful for those who fail to look for the Coming of the Lord.

Their mesage is no more frightening than a priest telling you about mortal sin on your soul if you die. I mean, come now, you can be the best most charitable person. Mass going, on the block, but eat a yummie hambuger(you just could not deny the aroma) just one time on a friday during Lent and bam! a tree falls on you before your Saturday confession, your whole life of good works and deep faith, gone! hell for you.!!!

I am not poking fun. really, not my style. Just trying to put things in perspective.

My take is a little different from the other posts.I heard Hagee talk monday and he was telling exactly how the end time is so near he knew all the countries involved and how it would probably end.He preaches on it because its a hot topic. With all the current eathquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, ect.people can be drawn to listen to someone who says he knows why and the reasons for them happening. If this happened to be 1955 he would be preaching something different.

I’m a bit of a doom and gloom artist myself. Possibly it owes something to the fact I was once Protestant. Since becoming Catholic I’ve rarely heard Catholics comment on all the trouble we’ve been getting, whereas my Protestant experience is that they’re much more aware of “last days” stuff. Then again, I suspect this has a lot to do with the fact Protestantism in this country is heavily influenced by American developments. If there’s a buzz word in American protestantism, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a buzz word here.

However I think I’d disagree with Mr. Hagee on his belief that he knew “how it would probably end”, were I to hear it expressed. For one thing, a lot of Protestants seem to think they’re going to be Raptured off the planet, out of harms way. I’m more inclined to believe the Marian warning at Aktia, that “it will spare neither priest nor faithful” and “the living will envy the dead”. That doesn’t sound like rapturous deliverance to me.

So if I were a Catholic evangelist, I think I’d be just as guilty as Mr Hagee et all of being a doom and gloom speaker, but with a different context. So maybe I’d better not become one. …😃

well not knowing whose these people are, because in my limited spare time I confine myself to watching and listening only to Catholic media outlets, reading solid CAtholic spiritual writing, and visiting only Catholic sites, (not having the leisure to spend perusing anti-Catholic sources as so many here seem to have), my first guess is that if their outlets are commercial TV stations that message is what draws viewers and makes money for the network.

I agree some are out there to make a quick buck…😉

I’ve wondered this same thing? The other side of this question is why are so many people drawn to these messages? From the attendee’s point of view I can think of the thrill of being in on some so called inside information and depending on who is preaching how their are part of the few that will avoid the doom and gloom. From the TV preachers POV all I can think of(besides they may actually believe the rhetoric) is that they somehow benefit from the powerfull emotion of Fear - haven’t fleshed out a larger answer, but somehow Fear benefits the tv production. The other folks on TV are on the opposite side of the spectrum…the “How To?” Preachers. how to make money, be successfull, be happy, lose weight etc etc…

What disturbs me more than both…is the Christian TV networks that seem to have no qualms over who makes it to air…I’m sorry but if their is one industry thats needs to put truth and integrity ahead profits its them

Hagee and Parsley play both cards. Hagee not quite as much as the rest of the Prosperity folks, but he is one of them. Hagee writes many books that just rehash his prophecy stuff. I do not know why people keep buying. I do not know the statistics, but he writes as much/more about “end times prophecy” as anyone
